DML has its office based in Douglas, Isle of Man, but is a member of the Schulte Group which has offices, crewing agencies and recruitment centres world-wide.  The Isle of Man is located between Ireland and England and is about 33 miles (50km) long and 17 miles (20km) wide. In spite of its small size the Isle of Man is a centre for finance and shipping. There is a very favourable tax regime in place, which benefits the ship manager, and therefore the Ship Owner.

The Isle of Man Government has a positive attitude towards the shipping industry.  There are over 600 people working within the shipping industry on the Island. The Isle of Man Marine Administration is run not to make a profit but to encourage shipping and shipping activities in the Isle of Man. There are many advantages to registering your ships under the Isle of Man flag, but it is certainly not compulsory in order to do business with Dorchester Maritime Limited.
